Pregnancy during Christmas
November 25, 2008
There is much to celebrate on Christmas, especially with your winter baby on the way. Chances are there that you may not be in the best of mood with your figure giving competition to Santa, but as they say… there is always a silver lining on the wintry sky!
You may not enjoy the season as much as last year but do not despair as a few of the below suggestions will soon put the glow back on your face. If you are working, there are chances of being invited to the office party. Now they can range from a quiet lunch to a lavish evening bash where the booze flows freely. Make sure you are clear with yourself about what you want to disclose so that you are not tensed about the party.
Remember that it works both ways; work bashes are not the best place to ask your boss whether returning part-time is an option and neither can you say an outright ‘No’. diet at home, it is probably best not to have a complicated schedule with loads of family members depending on you for showing up, giving lifts or babysitting. And when visiting family around the country, it is always a good idea to have your maternity hospital notes with you. If you are still experiencing morning sickness, Christmas dinner may turn your stomach further.
Sticking to small portions – smaller than usual – and taking in some fresh air will help. Even if you do not like it, take help when it is offered during this time. Another good idea is to scale down the size of your Christmas tree. Do not put up all the decorations by yourselves, especially not the top ones. A sudden vertigo attack may endanger you.
Christmas is also the time for presents. Starting Christmas shopping early is always a good idea, so that you are not required to tramp round the shops with heavy bags on Christmas Eve. Online shopping can work wonders, and make sure you get presents for yourself. Try to get some time to yourself if you can; if family are visiting, spend quality time with them and also make use of some of those pampering products. Christmas is the season to be merry and jolly and with a baby on the way, more so. So just plan ahead carefully and enjoy the holiday cheer and warmth.
