Protein vs. Carbohydrates: A Weight-Loss Choice
When it comes to the great debate of carbs or calories, everyone’s hands are up in the air. Do you eat less carbs or do you eat less calories? The answer is quite simple, if you have a healthy balance of the two, you will have a healthy diet.
It all comes down to the fact that you need to consume less calories than you are burning off when exercising. This will help you to maintain a healthy weight, lose the weight that you want to drop and stay happy and healthy.
Another key is to choose healthy carbs in place of bad carbs. It is not healthy to cut out either one of these from your diet all together. There are certain fats that can actually be healthy for you, such as olive oil or canola oil. Omega-3 fatty acids are also very good for you as well.
Some of the hazardous fats that you should cut back on or avoid are red meats, whole milk and even butter. You also want to be aware of trans-fats as well. You can find many foods that are great for you and will help to fight certain diseases, such as cancer. Fiber rich foods such as vegetables, fruits and whole grains are perfect examples of this.
When you are trying to lose weight, you simply need to eat less and exercise more. Even though certain foods are better for you than others, you should not omit them from your diet completely. This could be more harmful for you than eating them. You simply need to eat certain foods in moderation and losing the weight won’t seem like such a battle any longer.
By eating foods that you can have in an unlimited supply, such as broccoli and asparagus, you will not feel hungry and it will help to curb those cravings that we all get once in a while. Before you know it, you will be on your way to cutting the calories and feeling great from the new diet and exercise program.
