Reduce Hypertension By Making Changes In Your Lifestyle

October 5, 2009

manage-stressIn reality, reducing blood pressure in a natural way is quite easy. Nonetheless, you have to make some changes in your lifestyle. Making these long term changes might not be easy for some people.

However, almost twenty-five percent of the population suffers from blood pressure problems, and the likelihood of having problems increases as you grow older. Blood pressure has bad effects on the health. Therefore, it is imperative to have your blood pressure under control and to see it does not increase.

To prevent your blood pressure, you have to exercise. Exercising is mandatory, since it makes the heart function better; thirty minutes of exercise daily is very good, as it strengthens the heart and helps to reduce hypertension. Beyond the hypertensive benefit, exercise in general is good for the health. It enables you to reduce your weight and helps to minimize stress.

Sometimes blood pressure can rise due to excess weight gain. So when you reduce your weight, you will be reducing your blood pressure also as the stress that you are putting on your body is minimized. Research has proved that, by reducing your weight to healthier levels, you can drastically minimize the chances of getting high blood pressure.

The level of sodium in your food also has an effect on your blood pressure. Sodium is normal salt. If you reduce your sodium intake by 1500mg daily, then you can bring your blood pressure closer to normal. When you are buying processed foods, check the label to see what they contain, because these foods can have significant amounts of hidden sodium, which will increase your blood pressure.

In addition to exercising, you have to relax. Relaxing yourself naturally will help greatly in reducing blood pressure. Relaxing helps to reduce stress. Meditation, yoga, having a massage are various ways of relaxing. Such relaxation will reduce tension, which will, in turn, reduce blood pressure.

Eating a healthy and nutritious diet will also help to reduce your blood pressure. Eating healthy food means consuming lots of fresh vegetables and fruits, and foods that are rich in fiber.

Low dairy fat, proteins and whole grains are also healthy, and they should also form a part of the diet. Fish also helps to reduce blood pressure. Most importantly, consuming a lot of water helps to reduce and maintain blood pressure.
