Summers is the time when you need to run away from sun as during this time the temperatures are so high that if not taken proper care they will definitely take a toll not on your skin but also on your body too.
Sunlight has its own benefits but it should be restricted usage only too much of sun rays are very harmful for us and they affect everyone be it a child or an adult. The harmful UV rays emitted by sun are very dangerous and we need to protect our skin from these rays during summers.
Even if you are staying within the four walls then too you need to save your skin from these UV radiations coming from the sun. There are few sun safety tips which should be followed during summers to save ourselves from sun burns and heat waves.
Tips to save skin from sun burns
Before moving out in the sun always gives your skin protection with the help of proper sunscreen lotion or cream. Sunscreen is not just meant for face only. The whole body skin needs sun protection so sunscreen lotion should be applied on the whole body and specially the parts exposed to the sun like neck, arms, hands, and feet should be well protected.
Just one single application is not enough for working women or the teenagers who move out very frequently. They need to apply sunscreen two to three times in a day depending upon their sun exposure time.
If you use anti-aging cream, medicines or Retina ‘A’ cream then never move out after applying these creams. Exposure to sun while anti-aging cream is applied might be harmful for your skin. Just sunscreen is not enough for the women who are exposed to the sun for more time. They need the protection of sun block creams or lotions too.
Homemade tips for treating sunburns
If your skin is burned due to strong sun rays then you can apply aloe Vera paste or aloe Vera gel on the affected area. Aloe Vera containing creams also soothe the burning effect on your skin. All the creams containing aloe Vera give soothing effect to our skin and make us feel cool and help in curing sun burns too.
Apply one boiled potato mixed and mashed with half teaspoon of lime juice. Apply this paste after making a smooth paste from potato and let it dry on the affected sun burnt area. Once it is dry remove it by rubbing it. You can use this paste twice in a week to cure the sun burnt area on your skin.
Make a paste by mixing cucumber juice, potato and lime juice with Fuller’s earth (multani mitti). Apply this paste on your face and let it dry. After 15-20 minutes make it a bit wet and massage your face with this paste on your face and wash it with cold water. Just see the nice effect it will have on your sun burnt skin.
Mix one tablespoon skimmed milk with 4 tablespoons of water and make a paste and then add ice cubes in the paste. Dip soft muslin cloth in this mixture and keep it on your face for 15-20 minutes. Repeat it at least twice and in between if the cloth becomes dry dip it again and keep it on your face. Just see the change it brings on your sun tanned skin.
You can take out fresh aloe Vera gel and apply it on the sun burnt area and after sometime wash it with water. In order to treat sun burn on arms and feet take some Luke warm water in a tub and add 4-5 cups of apple vinegar in it and dip your hands and feet in it for 15-20 minutes. Pat dry your skin after taking out your hands and feet from water and then apply vitamin E or aloe Vera moisturiser. This will help in curing the red rashes formed due to sun burn.
Apply rose water or cucumber water on your face this helps in cooling the sun tanned skin and it helps in toning our skin too. Before using the rose water or cucumber juice keep it in freezer for few minutes so that it becomes cool.
Skin Brightening Masks
During summers the skin becomes wheatish or a little darker in shade due to tanning so you can revive your skin back by using these Skin Brightening Masks which can be made at home only.
Make a paste by adding 2 teaspoons of almond paste, a pinch of turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon papaya paste. Mix all these ingredients well and apply it on your face and after washing just check out how your skin starts glowing and gives a fresh look.
Take 2 teaspoons of egg white, 2 teaspoons of honey and 2 teaspoons of potato paste and mix them well and make a smooth paste. Apply this paste on your face and remove it by washing after 20 minutes. This will make your skin look bright and a shade better.
By using these easy tips at home you can make your skin glow and protect form sun burns too. Sun rays might damage your skin causing wrinkles, dark spots or burning. Ultra violet rays emitted by the sun can cause skin cancer too due to excessive exposure to the sun or make our skin tanned and tanning is not good for skin.
The skin which is tanned is not supposed to be a healthy skin and it might cause blemishes, brown spots, and dryness and damage our skin. Take a cold bath if you get sunburn and apply cold yoghurt on the affected area and leave it for few minutes this will help in soothing the skin which is sunburnt.
Choosing a good sunscreen
While choosing a sunscreen just check its SPF value which should not be less than 15. Even babies and children should be protected from the sun exposure as they might also suffer sun burns. If you do have the problems of acne then use oil –free sunscreens. New born babies should not be exposed to the sun. It should be applied at least 20 minutes before moving out. Do not use expired sunscreen lotion it might harm your skin.
