Smoking And Pregnancy
Becoming pregnant is a wonderful blessing for most women. But, if you have bad habits at the time of conception, stopping them immediately can be somewhat difficult for some of us. Smoking during pregnancy can be very harmful effects for the baby. There are ways to help you quit without feeling too much stress and strain.
The first thing that you want to do is pick a date that you will no longer pick up a smoke and stick to that date. The first few days can be a little rough so try to stay busy. You can start by cleaning your house of any ashtrays, lighters and opened or unopened cigarette packs that you have lying around the house.
Drinking plenty of water is also a great help. Add some flavoring such as lemon or orange. Exercise is also great to help you quit. Being fit will make for a healthier baby and an easier pregnancy. You will want to stay on the right track once you get started.
Switch up your daily routine to avoid your habit as well. By staying away from the places that you generally would smoke, you will have less of a craving. Also, don’t find an excuse to smoke, such as something went wrong or something to celebrate.
If there is something that you have wanted to buy and just have not had the extra money, set the money aside that you would use to purchase your smokes and use that as a treat for yourself. That could add up to a pretty penny.
Remember, one day at a time is the best way to go. If you need help, talk with a friend or family member or you can even call a counselor for support. If you are having withdrawal symptoms, pat yourself on the back. This means that the nicotine is leaving your body and you are on your way to a full recovery from smoking. You and your baby will be happier and healthier from the choice that you have made to quit cigarettes forever.
