Some Makeup Tips And Tricks You Better Avoid

By on September 11, 2011

Ever noticed how after repeated attempts to look perfect, you always end up looking horrendous at the end of the day? Well, the solution may lie in a few of the following beauty mistakes that are made by countless numbers of women in the world.

The Foundation Counts

Most individuals tend to think that foundation is used to give a tan to the body or cover up dark skin. Rather, foundations are used for the sole purpose of creating a smooth layer on your skin and cover up any imperfections. And so when choosing a foundation it is highly recommended that you choose one that blends in with the original color of your skin.

Skin Issues

Apply makeup on dry, flaky skin and you will end up looking like someone with a serious skin infection. Foundation when applied over dry, flaky skin would not blend in with the skin, but sit on top of the flakes and project them to others.

Make it a point to exfoliate your skin regularly in addition to keeping it hydrated for most parts of the day. Exfoliated, hydrated skin would be much smoother, and so would give off a smoother, more polished after the application of makeup.

Eye Shadows And Shades

Believe it when someone says that blue eye shadows are passé. These shades were once considered a rage, but grew out with time, mainly due to the fact that they did not suit everybody. And it’s the same today. Blue eye shadows are hard to carry off and can make you look quite ridiculous if you fail to do so.

Another thing many women out there need to understand is the importance of using minimal number of shades above your eyes. The standard number recommended by beauticians is 3 wherein you opt for a light shade near the brows, a medium one on the lids and a darker shade as a liner. Anything more than that is just going to look plain horrendous!

Pouty Lips Like Angelina Jolie’s’

I haven’t seen a woman out there who doesn’t admire Angelina Jolie’s pouty lips. And in an effort to get the same, these women tend to follow each and every trick available in the books to get that much desired pouty look.

A common trick that is often followed in this case involves lining the outer side of the lip. Although this would give off a pouty look, it needs to be perfected in order to give the desired effect. Again, choosing a lip liner that is a different shade of your lipstick would pose problems if the lipstick were to fade away. So, it is wise if you choose a lipstick and the lip liner with the same color and shade. You can also apply some lip liner to your lips to create a lasting effect.

Eyebrow Pencils

Nearly every other woman out there uses an eyebrow pencil to fill in their eyebrows. Though this method may give your brows the fullness you desire, it would make your brows look artificial and painted on. Alternatively, you can opt for eye shadows that match your hair color and apply some shadow on the brows with a small, angled brush.

Tweezing Woes

Tweezing your eyebrows manages to give your face a more sculpted look and can enhance the beauty of your eyes. However, too much of tweezing would leave you with nothing but a very thin eyebrow and plenty of pain.

Although the brows would grow back naturally after a few weeks, with time this growth process would reduce drastically, thereby inhibiting the growth of hair in the eyebrows if you tweeze the same too much.
