November 6, 2009
From the time pregnancy starts, the hormonal changes take place in the body. The body of the pregnant woman undergoes sea of changes. Most of these changes are temporary; it lasts until the delivery of the child.
However, in this temporary phase, the woman experiences many pains and discomforts. As said earlier, most of these pains and discomforts are temporary. Even then, you have to carefully weigh and monitor them.
The doctor conducts many tests to establish the general health condition of the pregnant. He advises the woman on food, exercise, medicines to take etc. With all these, sometimes some complications can arise, either in the labor room, or in any time during the pregnancy.
What are the common pregnancy complications?
Some of the pregnancy complications are Placental Abruption (Premature separation of placental from implantation in the uterus), Gestational diabetes (diabetic condition during pregnancy), Placenta Previa (where the placenta grows too low in the uterus), pregnancy high blood pressure or premature labor.
Those who have any of these complications should be under strict medical supervision. All medications should be under the supervision and guidance of the physician.
Premature labor:
Premature labor is experiencing labor before the due date. If the woman goes into labor before 37th week of pregnancy or three weeks before her due date, then she seems to have premature labor. In this condition, the cervix opens much before the due date and this opening causes the birth of the baby.
This is a serious condition, which has to be treated. Intimate any such early signs to the physician immediately. Baby born under this condition will have some breathing problem, need regulation of the body temperature and there will be problem in feeding the baby.
There are many symptoms of premature labor. Some will have the symptom such as menstrual like cramping and such cramping may not cause any discomfort. The other symptom is that the woman will have frequent contractions and feeling of abdomen getting hard and feeling of tightening.
Abdominal contraction with diarrhea or nausea is yet another symptom. Pressure in the lower part of the pelvic region and a feeling of pressure from the baby, is one more symptom. Some women experience significant blood discharge or light spotting or strong lower backache.
When you notice any of these symptoms, consult your gynecologist without loosing any time.
