Stress-Free Thanksgiving Period
October 5, 2009
Holidays are right around the corner and for some busy people, this can add up to the levels of stress. Thanksgiving should be a stress-free period and if you follow some simple tips, you can definitely cope with everything.
Below you will find some ideas on how to manage this period without losing your cool. Holiday time should definitely be enjoyable and not laden with unnecessary stress!
Getting sleep
This is a prime condition because if you are deprived of sleep, you will certainly not be able to function at the required levels. Therefore, sleep well before anything and then start planning. After you have had enough of sleep, you should start making plans for the festivities.
Knowing your limits
If you are the one preparing the holiday meal, then you should be aware of the number of guests that are coming and the size of the feast you need to prepare. Know the exact number of people who are coming to dinner, and it will definitely help with the preparations.
Relax
Make a mental note of the designated chores, like, the meal needs to be prepared, decorations needs to done and preparations for the people coming should be attended to. Everything else should be left aside for the moment.
Get over arguing issues
Some family members might still want to make the occasional comment, but you should not pay heed to those remarks. The best way is to ignore the comments and thus, maintain the stability of the situation.
Keeping the people busy
Kids should be kept engaged in an activity as well; therefore you should assign people duties and make sure everyone participates. Help the aunt with the dinner, and get everyone involved in the preparations. It is not fair to have everything on your mind, therefore distribute the tasks!
Giving thanks
The thanksgiving period is to allow people to give thanks to the things and people in their lives. This should be a period of fun and not stress. Have everyone say what they are thankful for and what they wish for the future. You will see that this will create a sense of closeness. Also, do not forget those in the past, who made the present possible.
