Stretch Marks After Pregnancy
Our skin is generally flexible so that it is able to give and take when needed. But, when we go on yo-yo diets which cause us to lose and gain weight at a rapid pace or even during pregnancy when we gain a lot of weight, our skin can get fine lines which we know as stretch marks.
A stretch mark comes from when the tissue under your skin is torn from being stretched at a rapid pace. The scars come from an over abundance of collagen getting produced and the end result is that the dermis becomes damaged.
Most women who become pregnant will experience stretch marks. Many women may find that they get stretch marks in various different places. These include the breasts, butt, thighs and even the hips. Your skin starts to really stretch during the third trimester and this is when you may start to see stretch marks appear.
There are many things that women try to do to prevent stretch marks. One of the most popular methods during pregnancy is to use lotion. Some women may swear by cocoa butter while doctors may tell you that using a lotion that contains asiatica extract, alpha tocopherol, better known as vitamin E, or one that has collagen-elastin hydrolysates would be a great lotion to use.
Other methods of helping to prevent stretch marks are to eat a healthy and nutritious diet and during your pregnancy to wear a maternity bra that gives great support. Ways to treat stretch marks are by getting laser surgery that is accompanied by using a prescribed lotion or cream. There is nothing that will get rid of your stretch marks completely, but you can fade them so that they are not totally noticeable.
This can be a big help when you want to wear that summer bikini and shorts in the summer time. Although the scar is permanent, using these solutions can get you back into that summer fun in no time. You can get your confidence back and know that you still look great in no matter what you wear.
