Stretch Marks And Skin Changes In Pregnancy
December 27, 2008
Skin is one of the most delicate parts of our body. Skin does not remain the same forever. As we grow old, our skin tends to change as well. For women the case is bit different. During pregnancy a woman’s skin changes drastically because of the hormonal changes.
Every pregnant woman has one common problem and that is stretch marks. They are scar looking marks on the surface of the skin. As the baby grows inside the womb, the outer layer of the skin separates and stretch marks occur. Other than pregnant woman people who are overweight also face the similar problem.
When it comes to stretch marks during pregnancy, heredity is an important factor. It might run in the family. If a woman had stretch mark during her pregnancy, then there is every possibility that her daughter will have the same skin problem during her pregnancy period.
Stretch marks usually do not last long. They fade away after the baby is born. But if not, then not to worry as there are easy and effective remedies to this skin predicament. Massage your body with vitamin E oil or olive oil, especially the abdomen area. It is better to start this treatment from day one of your pregnancy. Massage the oil after bath. But if you miss your shower, then clean your body with a wet cloth and then apply the oil. You can also try cocoa butter, as it is effective as well.
Another effective way to avoid stretch marks is to exercise regularly. That will burn the calories and there will be less chance of being obese and lesser the chance of having such hideous marks on the skin.
Other than stretch marks, pregnant women may also suffer from dry skin, acne and blemishes. To prevent the skin from becoming dry, drink lots of water and apply a good moisturizer. Do not use cleansers that are too harsh on the skin. Always wear sunscreen. And last but not the least, use products that are organic. Avoid things that contain inorganic components. Follow these tips, have healthy skin and look gorgeous during your pregnancy.
