Tanning: For A Natural Golden Appearance

During summer the first thing that comes to mind is getting a tan. A tan gives a bronzed look and is loved by many. You might be fond of the exotic bronze look, but let me remind you, a tan is not that safe. Basically, it is a form of sun damage.

Since, to get a tan, you have to be under the sun for a relatively long time and that puts both your skin and health in danger. Too much exposure to the sun can lead to sun damage, sunburn, which can eventually lead to other skin problems such as skin cancer.

But not to worry, there are other ways of getting a healthy tan, and your skin will not suffer. There are different types of creams available on the market that will give your skin a tanned look. Many profound cosmetic companies, such as Estee Lauder and Lancome, have come up with such creams.

Now the question is how does a self tanning cream work? These creams contain di-hydroxy acetone, also known as DHA. This component reacts chemically with the top layer of the skin. That gives the golden color to the skin and gives the skin a tanned look. This method is completely safe and less time consuming compared to sun bathing.

After you have applied the cream, you will have to wait for a few hours for the cream to work on the skin. The effect of the cream is that the tan will last for a good few days till the top layer of the skin sheds off. If you are using a tanning cream, I would suggest the one that is a tan accelerator as well as a sunscreen.

You will also find tanning products that you can consume orally. It is better to avoid those, as they might give you an unnatural complexion. Better to stick to the creams.

Tanning beds used to be very popular once, but not anymore. They produce more UV rays than the sun, which is very harmful for the skin. So better avoid those parlors.

A tan might look good, but the best complexion is the one you were born with. But just in case if you want to go for a tan, then you have plenty of creams available.
