Teeter Totter Instructions

The first thing that you have to do is look for a partner who matches you in weight. Balance one end of the board and stand on it. Instruct your partner to stand similarly on the other end of the teeter totter.

Now, either lower down or pick up the end of the board that you are standing on in a manner that the flat board is balanced roughly in a horizontal position over the fulcrum. Straddling on the teeter totter can get a little difficult if you are new to the game. You can take the help of other friends or elders for straddling.

Start with a sitting position and once you are balanced, straddle on it. Help your partner in the same way. Ensure that the board of the tee totter is leveled with the ground. This will help both of you to straddle either ends.

Balance

The game of teeter totter is based on balance. Both you and your partner sit on either ends at the same time. Balance the board by keeping the feet on the ground.

Raise the board from one side. Use your legs to push off the plank from the floor while on the other end your partner keeps his feet raised from the ground. With almost equal weights, your partner will sink below towards the ground while you will be raised up.

On the other end your partner repeats the movement and the positions get reversed. In case you and your game partner have different weights, then balance the weight. Stand on levels on the teeter totter and the person who is heavier than the other will come closer to the fulcrum end while the other will keep standing.

Ensure that the plank does not tilt towards the person with a heavy weight. If this happens, then understand that the weights have not been balanced. Reshuffle your positions and balance the plank on the fulcrum so that both ends lie at same height over the ground.

When you wish to dismount, bring one end of the plank to the ground.Once you get down, hold on to the end and slowly bring the other end down so you’re your partner too gets off the plank.

Both of you can get down at a time by bringing the plank at a level. Use feet to balance yourselves before getting down. Follow the above teeter totter instructions to have fun with the seesaw game.
