Ten Key Interview Tips

In today’s tough job market, it is a good idea to have a few good ideas on how to be impressive. Employers are getting tougher and tougher to impress when it comes to showing that you are the best person for the job.

When you are interviewing for a position, often the prospective employer will ask what you know about the company. It is very important to do your research about the company you are applying with. This way when they ask what you know about them you will be prepared and ready for anything. You will also want to bring an extra resume with you just in case they ask for it.

When you are being interviewed, make eye contact with the interviewer. This will show them that you are confident about this position and yourself. You will also appear focused. It is also important to get excited about the company that you are applying with. They will want to see that you are truly interested in what they do.

Your manner of dress is critical. You should dress for success, as they say, and look professional. Make sure that you have had a haircut and look well groomed. This even includes those get-your-hands-dirty types of jobs.

During the interview, keep your answers short and to the point. You will also want to answer each question as direct as possible. They also may ask about your past. Be ready to show how your past experiences will benefit them in the future from your expertise. It is also important for you to ask questions of the interviewer. Not only does this show an interest in the company but it shows that you are feeling them out as well.

Lastly, be sure to mail off a thank you note for the interview. This is good protocol to follow even if you have no intention of taking the position. This person could become a great contact for you at some point in the future. Be careful not to burn any bridges along the way in your search for employment.
