The Dark Side Of Relationships
March 26, 2009
A healthy relationship is one in which the partners have a lot of love, care and most importantly, respect for each other. When this respect and love is overpowered by over possessiveness then it gives rise to jealousy and results in abusive relationships. Because of the stressful life style today, many people face this problem. Nearly one out of four women is victim of this problem.
This problem can crop up in any relationship – it can be between lovers, husband and wife and even between close friends. The abuse can be verbal, emotional and in the extreme cases, it can even be physical. This is also accompanied by emotional blackmailing, which leads to helplessness. Anyone, even you and I, can be the victim of this type of abusive relationship.
If you are feeling suffocated because of some relationship, then check for the following symptoms of abusive relationship:
The first and foremost symptom of an abusive relation is that there is a lot of jealousy; even in normal and simple things, jealousy may creep. This jealousy keeps on becoming more and more intense. If you experience frequent insults or abusive language by your partner then your relationship is surely victim to this problem.
The person may impose and restrict everything of yours from what you wear to where you go. Another symptom is frequent shouting and yelling, as well as intimidation. If your partner continuously questions you on anything and everything then abuse may crop into your relationship.
Forcing the individual to do what he is not interested in even on sexual grounds can surely be abusive. Even the signs like hitting and harming the person physically are true signs of this problem. When there is no space between a relationship and you have to think several times to say or do something then this is a guaranteed case of an abusive relationship.
The best and most effective solution to this problem is professional help or counseling. If this option is not tried then it can only worsen the situation. You can even talk to a trusted family member or friend who can understand your problem and guide you in the right direction.
