The Wrinkle Free Diet

January 2, 2009

Everybody wants to look young and defy age at any cost. However the fact is that you really do not have to spend so much money to look young. All you need is to have some important foods in your diet and you are on your way to looking fresh and young.

Read on to find out about some of the most amazing foods that are not only anti-aging but also healthy and inexpensive.

Keep your skin soft with pomegranates

Pomegranates have oodles and oodles of vitamin C. This is effective in preventing wrinkles caused by sun damage. It is rich in polyphenols and the supernutrient punicalagin. The first fights off free radicals, while the other stimulates collagen production, which will keep your skin plump and young.

Have a cup of pomegranate seeds every week to get its full benefits.

The little blueberries work miracles for fine lines

They have more amounts of anti-oxidants than most foods. This makes them extra effective for fighting free radicals, which are a result of sun exposure, emotional stress and even overexercising. They prevent cell-structure damage and hence, fine lines and wrinkles.

Half a cup everyday is the perfect remedy for those fine lines.

Firm up with Spinach and Kale

These are a storehouse of special phytonutrients or anti-oxidant compounds. They have beta-carotene and lutein, which improve skin elasticity, which means a firmer skin and a younger you.

Have atleast three cups of either kale or spinach every week.

The cold water fish will give redness cold feet

The secret lies in the omega-3 fatty acids. These strengthen skin-cell membranes and hence keep moisture in. Sardines, salmon and mackerel all have them.

However, limit yourself to no more than six 6-ounce portions to avoid mercury contamination.

Have a cup of green tea and say good bye to your brown spots

The magic word here is catechins. This healthy brew is rich in catechins and polyphenols. The catechins fight sun damage and polyphenols fight free radicals. Both of these result in reversing the effects of aging.

Have at least a cup a day.

Watermelon will make your complexion dewy

This watery melon contains lycopene and potassium besides vitamin C, which help to maintain the body’s water balance.

Have at least one or two cups a week, although once you start you will want way more than a cup.

Olive oil will impart a healthy glow to your skin

Olive oil is rich in good fats, that is omega 3 fatty acids. These improve blood circulation and keep the skin rosy and supple.

A tablespoon a day should be enough.

A Few more tips

Wearing an SPF 30 sunscreen is a good idea, so is wearing sunglasses even at sunset. Apply a hydrating masque at the most once a week and use a satin pillowcase.

Leave your blemishes alone. Protect your face against wind and stick to a healthy routine.
