Cold sores are a common problem. People of any age can have them. Cold sores are basically caused by a virus. Cold sores occur on the lips, in the mouth and sometimes inside the nose.
Often they can be painful and can last from a few days to weeks. The problem with the cold sores is that the immune system cannot always derive away the germ or the virus that causes the problem. That is one reason why sores can come back even after being cured.
So what are these cold sores? They are blisters. These blisters are usually small in size and inside the blisters; there is a kind of fluid.
The virus that causes this problem is known as herpes simplex virus, in short HSV. This is contagious and the disease can spread specially by kissing and by coming in contact with the sore in any way.
The blister is contagious when it is fresh and active. But when it becomes dry, then there is less chance of spreading the disease. But it should also be mentioned that a person could spread this disease even when she/he is cured.
There is nothing to worry about this disease as this has verities of cure. The remedies are fairly easy.
If you have, cold sores then rub some ice on the infected area. Do this everyday for a few minutes, and the sore will be cured.
Another cure for this problem is tea bags. Press a used tea bag on the area for a while. Repeat this process in every one hour. But if the tea bag is hot then hold it on the area for at least half an hour.
Aloe vera gel is also a good remedy for cold sores. Apply some of the gel on the affected area and keep it there. There is no need to wash it off. Keep applying it daily before the sore goes away. It is better to apply the gel at night before going to bed.
Last but not the least; make sure you eat foods that are rich in vitamins. If necessary, have a Vitamin C tablet every day. Vitamin C will keep the cold sore away.
