Tips to Fix Split Ends
It is literally split caused in the hair strands of the cuticles. As a result, the hair appears unruly. If it is not treated properly, it may cause damage to the hair and split the hair shaft.
Experts are of the opinion that continuous coloring, blow drying of the hair, straightening or curling contribute to the split ends. Experts feel that chemicals used in coloring, etc. have many side effects and one of the side effect is split ends. The other reason attributed by experts is that during this process of maintenance, the hair loses the moisture and it becomes dry. The dry hair splits.
Cut the hair: One of the best remedies is to cut the hair which has split. Of course, there are some serums which can temporarily seal the root of the hair and prevent the split ends. But this is only a temporary remedy.
Shampoo: Moisturizing the hair shaft will prevent the split ends. This can be done by applying shampoo on the hair in warm water. The warm water will enable the cuticles to open and that will actually moisturize the cuticles. On the other hand, cool water closes the cuticles and it may damage the hair.
Moisturizer: After shampooing with hot water, apply good quality moisturizing conditioners and allow the moisturizer to stay for at least five minutes. For better results, wrap the hair with a clean towel for about fifteen minutes. This will sufficiently moisturize the hair and that prevents split ends. This process of conditioning should be done at least once a month.
Timing: Do not color frequently. Between colorings, give at least one month time or enough time because coloring is a chemical process which causes hair to split.
How to comb?
Preferably comb the hair when it is wet and with a wide toothed comb. Apply silk spray of light intensity and ensure that the spray does not contain any alcohol. This process prevents split hair. If the hair is dry, comb with a brush which is short bristled.
Ionic blow dryer:
This type of dryer saves the moisture in the hair. As a result, it prevents split ends. Now, style the hair with styling products which are silicon based. By this process side effects on the hair can be avoided.
