Tips To Lose Pregnancy Weight Gain For Obese Women

For obese women, it’s no longer hard to lose weight during pregnancy, as it has been found out in researches. Obesity is a problem which not only harms the body, but also effects pregnancy to a great extent. It increases the risk of miscarriages and several other diseases, like gestational diabetes. Now it is easier for obese women to lose weight without harming the baby.

How to avoid excess weight gain?

Women need to eat a balanced and healthy diet. It should be low in sugar and saturated fats. Temperate exercise like swimming or walking should be performed. Foods containing vital nutrients should be preferred over all the junk foods, as they provide only calories. Sweetened drinks should be avoided and juices should be opted over them. Obese women should also consult a dietitian in order to lose weight after giving birth and to avoid future pregnancy complications.

How to control excessive carbohydrate intake?

Vegetables that are non starchy should feature the most in the diet, as they are high in nutrients and fiber. Starch items should only be included in small quantities. Whole grains should be involved in the diet. Fruits that are low on glycemics should be included as they provide high quantity of antioxidants. One can also intake fruits higher in glycemics, but in small quantities. Nuts are also good as they are low in carbohydrates. Legumes should also be added to the diet as they are high in fiber, nutrients and proteins.

What foods should be avoided?

Foods containing trans-fats, like margarine and hydrogenated oils, should be avoided. Large amounts of sweeteners like sugar or syrups should be eliminated from the diet. Deep fried foods and beverages that are high in sweeteners should also be eliminated.

The health and nutrition of the mother determines the health and well being of the fetus, as the mother is both the seed as well as the soil where the baby is nurtured. Therefore, to have a healthy pregnancy, the mothers should take care of their health before caring for the baby’s health.
