Lip stains are the perfect solution for those who are searching for an effective way to give their lips a bright and long lasting color. This product is considered to be a better alternative to lipstick, as it is impervious to the action of water, smoke and food.

But, there is a downside to this wonder product and it is the price tag that comes along with it. You may also find that lip stains do not always come in a color of your choice. However, you need not lose hope, as you also have the choice of trying out many homemade lip stains.

Quite easy to make, these natural lip stains are found to be as effective as their expensive commercial counterparts . Also, since these products are manufactured from natural ingredients you can very well use them without having to fear of contracting any kind of side effects.

Methods By Which You Can Make A Homemade Lip Stain

Lip Stain From Beetroot

If you wish to give your lips a naturally red color, then you can use a lip stain which is prepared from beetroot. To make the lip stain, heat together one tablespoon of grated beeswax and 2 tablespoons of sunflower oil. Stir the mixture and continue heating until the entire beeswax has melted completely.

To this mixture,  slowly add one teaspoon of dried beetroot powder and keep on stirring until the powder has dissolved completely. You can vary the intensity of the lip stain color, by varying the amount of beetroot powder added.

Also, if you are running short on beetroot powder, then you can very well replace it by beetroot juice. The lip stain thus prepared should be allowed to cool and should be then transferred to an air tight container for further use.

Lip Stain From Strawberries

In order to give your lips a pink color you can try out a lip stain that is made from strawberries. To prepare the lip stain, you should first mash completely a bowl full of strawberries. To these mashed strawberries, add a tablespoon of olive oil and mix well.

While the strawberry gives the lips the required color, the action of olive oil will provide a moisturizing effect, thereby preventing the formation of dried and cracked lips.

If you want to deepen the pink color of the lip stain, then you can add to it a tablespoon of freshly prepared coffee . Also, if you wish to add a violet tinge to your lips, then you can try out the above said recipe by replacing strawberries with blueberries.

Gelatin Lip Stain

You can also make a homemade lip stain by using flavored gelatin in a color of your choice. Dip a moist cotton ball in the gelatin and then swab it over your upper and lower lips.

After a minute, wipe the lips with a dry cotton ball in order to remove the gelatin crystals that might be sticking on to the lips. If you find that your lips have not achieved the desired color, then you can carry out one more round of gelatin application.

To enhance the action of the lip stain, it is advised that you use it only after exfoliating your lips. The action of the natural dyes in the homemade lip stain will ensure that your lips remain bright and beautiful for a long period of time.
