Tips To Moisturize Oily Skin
Oily skin is the bane of many people around the world. People having oily skin are very much prone to succumb to the undesirable condition of acne formation. Not only that, the extra greasiness of the skin makes it difficult for women to put on makeup in a proper manner.
All these troubles associated with oily skin can be attributed to the over activity of the sebaceous glands that are present on the skin. The excessive production of sebum by these glands, tend to give your skin an extra greasy feel.
Due to this reason, one has to be extra careful while choosing skin care products for oily skin. This statement holds extra prominence while you choose moisturizers for oily skin. Using an unsuitable product can increase the oiliness of the skin and in turn can aggravate the problems associated with it.
Some Tips To Moisturize Oily Skin
Choose The Best Moisturizer
Using a moisturizer which suits your skin type, is very important to keep your skin healthy and hydrated. An oil based moisturizer might help in hydrating your skin, but it will definitely increase the oiliness of your skin too.
Hence, it is recommended that you stay away from moisturizers which contain ingredients like lanolin, Vitamin E and petroleum as the main ingredients. Instead, you should opt for moisturizers that contain ingredients like lactic acid and glycerin, which are easily absorbed by the skin.
Using such moisturizers will thus help in hydrating the skin without adding to its greasiness. Also, see to it that the moisturizer you choose is non-comedogenic and does not clog the skin pores.
Use A Natural Moisturizer
If you are apprehensive to use a commercially available moisturizer, then you can very well make your own moisturizer that is specially suited for oily skin. To prepare a natural moisturizer you should mix half a cup of distilled water with 3 teaspoons of glycerin and a few drops of lemon oil and lavender essential oil. This liquid moisturizer can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a period of 2 months.
Another natural moisturizer for oily skin can be made by mixing together 2 tablespoons of glycerin with a mixture of 1 teaspoon shea butter and 1 teaspoon melted bees wax. This moisturizer should be stored in an opaque airtight container, in a place away from direct sunlight.
The Process of Application
After you have chosen a suitable moisturizer to your liking, the next step will be to concentrate on the process of applying the moisturizer. Before applying the moisturizer, do see to it that your skin is cleansed and toned properly.
Proper cleansing and toning of the skin will help to remove the dirt and grime in the pores, and will also help to eliminate the excessive oil in the skin, thereby ensuring the effective action of the moisturizer.
Finally, do apply the moisturizer on your skin, in light strokes in the upward direction. Do not rub the moisturizer too hard , as it can tend to damage your skin. For keeping your oily skin healthy and hydrated, it is advised that you repeat the moisturizing process thrice a day.
