Treating Urine Leakage In Women
October 16, 2009
It is an embarrassing and uncomfortable feeling if ever you experienced escape of urine, especially if you are a woman. This is what we call Urinary Incontinence (UI).
Urine leakage is common among old people and among women who have weak pelvic muscles and poor health conditions.
Groups of people who have the following diseases are susceptible to urine leakage.
1. Oldies who experienced stroke.
2. Devastating birth defects.
3. People infected with Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s and multiple sclerosis.
A number of old people are using adult diapers in order to handle this situation. Between men and women, the females are more prone to urine incontinence than men. Though there are only a few young females who are affected by urine incontinence and that too only if they experience the following symptoms:
1. Stress incontinence
This is the most common type of symptom that women experience because of the changes that the body undergoes during and after pregnancy, child birth, and menopausal stage. Your bladder leaks each time you cough, laugh, or sneeze.
2. Pregnancy and Child Birth
During pregnancy and child birth, the muscles that support your bladder become weak, pushing it downwards into your pelvis, which causes urine incontinence. Pre-menstrual syndrome and menopausal stage change the estrogen levels of women and can also cause stress.
Urinary Incontinence (UI) – The Proper Way To Treat
Kegel Exercises
Most physicians recommend Kegel Exercises in order to strengthen the pelvic muscles of the woman. Kegel exercises are often taught to pregnant women during prenatal classes. The exercises have easy steps to follow and it has mechanical aids that help to strengthen your muscles. Kegel exercises may take a long time to be effective. However, when you exercise regularly, it will help your muscles function well until old age.
Bladder retraining
Bladder retraining uses frequent cleansing of the bladder before it becomes full in order to hold back the urge and retrain it gradually to augment the time between toilet breaks. Women who feel urine incontinence may take some herbal medications which have fewer side effects.
Do not worry about having urine leakage caused by UTI or urinary tract infection because this can be treated right away. All you need to do is have some antibiotics and a systematic alkanizer in order to create an unreceptive environment.
There are other means of treating urinary incontinence and that is to go for surgery of the bladder, but I believe you do not need to have an operation since there are natural methods to choose from.
