Ways To Unwind And Lower Stress For Pregnant Moms
June 10, 2009
It is often said that the nine months of pregnancy are a time when women get to pamper themselves. They are thought to be the most blissful period of a woman’s life. However, pregnant women do get anxious and stressed out at times. Below are some simple ways to reduce stress during pregnancy.
Reflexology. Pregnant women should use reflexology to achieve instant stress relief. Reflexology applies thirty seconds of pressure to the central nerves of the body, located in the center of the bottoms of the feet, repetitively. This is said to help reduce the stress associated with morning sickness. Though reflexology is safe, one must be careful to avoid stimulation of the uterus reflex, located in the hollows just below your ankle bones, during pregnancy.
Prepare a Scrapbook. Pregnant women should try to organize their old memories in a scrapbook and create a space for new memories. They can either scrapbook alone or in a group with other pregnant mothers. Undertaking such projects can help calm the stress associated with pregnancy.
Wear Gems. Pregnant women should wear multicolored healing gemstone necklaces to achieve quick stress relief. These necklaces are generally made of healing stones such as moonstone that promote fertility and positivity, or amethyst which enhances peace of mind.
Tend a Garden. A pregnant woman nurtures an unborn life inside her. Tending to a garden and nurturing flowers, plants, herbs and vegetables helps in stress relief.
Rest. A pregnant woman needs to reduce the amount of physical stress on her body. Therefore it is very important that she give her body and mind as much rest as possible. Taking short breaks in between tasks will help reduce stress levels.
Exercises. Pregnancy sometimes leads to fatigue and aches. Swimming, practicing breathing techniques, employing muscle relaxation techniques, and meditating will help reduce stress.
Share your problems. Sharing and discussing problems related to the pregnancy, and the upbringing of the newborn child can help a pregnant woman lower her stress levels.
