Weight Loss After Pregnancy
Gaining weight during pregnancy is a natural process. Almost 12 kg is gained by a woman during her pregnancy. But after delivery, many women find it difficult in getting back to shape. The task of course is tough, but it is not by any means impossible.
Here are some tips which will help you in shaping up after delivery.
Start off with an exercise routine. If the delivery was a normal and complication free one, then you can start off your exercise routine after allowing yourself a period of rest of 6 weeks. If you had a cesarean then wait for some more time and take the advice of your doctor before starting off any exercise programs. If you are a person who always used to exercise, then you will find it very easy to lose the extra fat.
You can start off with a 10 minute exercise routine and then gradually increase the time. You can begin with simple exercises like walking. Swimming is also another form of exercise which will help you reduce fat and poses minimum risk of injury. Yoga and meditation also helps you to counter pre-pregnancy weight problems. For the best results you can join a gym or practice yoga under the guidance of a trained instructor.
Do not diet at least 3 months after your delivery. The body needs a well balanced diet to regain its pre-pregnancy conditions. Eating several small and healthy meals a day will also help to pep up your metabolism.Include lots of leafy greens and fruits in your diet. Keep your carbohydrate intake to the minimum. Never deprive your body of water. Water helps in melting down the fat. Avoid junk foods and high sugar and aerated beverages as they add onto your weight.
It is natural for a new mom to be occupied with her baby always. But this doesn’t mean neglect of personal care. Try doing simple exercises like walking around the house or sweeping the floors.
The best form of exercise which can be practiced by all the new moms is breastfeeding. Its nature’s way of helping you to lose weight. It is seen that breast feeding helps in burning off almost 500 calories a day. The longer you breast feed, the more calories you burn.
Thus by consistent exercises and following a healthy lifestyle you can very well shed off your pregnancy fat and get back into shape.
