When it comes to planning for the first few dates, everything is a trial and error. Your date may like, love or hate the date you have planned. But still dinner or lunch dates can not be as bad a bad movie date.

Your date may remember you forever as the guy or girl who took me to that freaky movie or the guy or girl who took me for a movie where I laughed my head off.

Tragic

Tragic movies are a complete no-go. You don’t want your date to be depressed and in tears on your very first date. No matter how good the movie is or how many people have given it rave reviews, don’t watch a tragic movie with your date.

If you are really eager to watch the movie, plan with your friends to watch this movie. Besides, sad movies can make people emotionally distant or emotionally needy depending on the movie. In either case, you would be opening Pandora’s box.

Romantic

While it may not be as dangerous as a tragic movie, romantic movie can suddenly become uncomfortable if there are too many kissing and intimate scenes happening in the movie. If you are planning to watch a romantic movie, you must first research the internet or ask friends if the movie is clean enough to be watched with a stranger.

Though you are on a date with that person, you both are practically strangers and it can be very unsettling to watch people getting action in the sack or becoming too intimate.

Fan Fiction

It is a safe bet because who wouldn’t want to watch Harry Potter or Superman movies when they run out of all other options. Though not your first choice, you can settle for this type of movies if all other movies look unappealing to you. However, make sure that your date is not completely against fan fiction and hates them bitterly.

Fan fiction is enormously loved or absolutely hated. You can ask your date before planning for the movie or if that’s not an option, you can get the tickets and indirectly know his or her opinion about it. Also, don’t look too excited about the movie for the fear of being taken as immature and childish.

Funny

It makes sense to watch funny movie on a first or second date as it is the safest bet. Funny movies allow both of you to perk up your mood. Even if your date is not in the mood or has had an exhausting day, watching funny movies together can release feel-good hormones and make both of you feel good.

Laughing together on jokes and funny scenes can make you both feel connected and closer to each other. Sharing a laugh is often said to make people more intimate than doing physical acts. So if you are in an unfamiliar territory and don’t know your date’s choice, watching a funny movie is the safest possible option.

Chick lit and violent movies are too gender-specific movies and must be watched with your friends strictly. Don’t watch these movies, unless you both are well into a relationship and are comfortable with each other.
